How to reach Finnair Plus Platinum Lumo

Named after the enchantment of flying, our Finnair Plus Platinum Lumo tier brings additional benefits to our most frequently flying customers. The Platinum Lumo tier benefits are focused on the highest level of service and flexibility when travelling.

You can reach the Finnair Plus Platinum Lumo tier after collecting 300,000 tier points, of which at least 250,000 collected from Finnair flights during your tracking period. Once you reach the tier point limit, your new Platinum Lumo membership card will appear in the Finnair app, and you can start using the tier benefits immediately. Platinum Lumo membership will continue for the rest of the current tracking period plus the next twelve months.

Finnair Plus Platinum Lumo benefits

Carry-on bag

You can take one complimentary carry-on bag (55cm x 40cm x 23cm / 22in x 16in x 9in) when travelling with an Economy Superlight ticket on Finnair short-haul flights. Superlight tickets normally include only a small bag (40cm x 30cm x 15cm / 16in x 12in x 6in) that is placed under the front seat.

Checked bag

You’re entitled to one extra bag (max. 23kg (50lb)) when travelling on Finnair flights (AY code on the ticket and flight operated by Finnair or Norra) and all the flights in one direction of your itinerary are operated by Finnair, regardless of travel class.

You’re entitled to one extra bag (max. 20–23kg (44–50lb) depending on the airline) when travelling on any other oneworld airline except Finnair, regardless of travel class. Please check the possible airline-specific limitations.

Special baggage

You can take one set of golf equipment (clubs and a bag), one ski or snowboard bag or one set of diving equipment (air tanks must be fully emptied) with you free of charge when travelling on Finnair scheduled flights or charter flights (AY code on the ticket and flight operated by Finnair of Norra) and all the flights in one direction of your itinerary are operated by Finnair. The benefit is personal.

Check-in

You can use priority check-in with your travel partners for all Finnair flights (AY code on the ticket and flight operated by Finnair of Norra) and other oneworld flights, regardless of travel class.

Priority security

You can use the faster priority security lane at security control when you're travelling on a Finnair flight (AY code on the ticket and flight operated by Finnair or Norra). At Helsinki Airport, you can bring along 4 guests and children under 18 years of age if they are travelling on a Finnair-marketed flight. At other airports, the benefit is personal.

Finnair Lounges at Helsinki Airport 

When travelling on Finnair flights (AY code on the ticket), you have access to the Finnair Lounges. The Finnair Platinum Wing on the non-Schengen side of Helsinki Airport and the brand-new Finnair Platinum Corner on the Schengen side of Helsinki Airport are also at your service.

You can bring along 4 guests travelling on a flight operated and marketed by Finnair or another oneworld airline.  

Please note that you can access the Finnair Lounge on the Schengen side when your flight departs from the Schengen area, and the Finnair Lounge on the non-Schengen side when your flight departs from the non-Schengen area. You and your guests’ flights must depart from the same side of the Schengen border.

All customers travelling on the same booking with a Finnair Plus Platinum Lumo member can purchase lounge access to Finnair Business Lounges at Helsinki Airport at a discounted price.* The benefit is not available for group bookings. To get the discount, lounge access must be purchased from Finnair digital channels or customer service.

*Finnair Platinum Wing and Finnair Platinum Corner are excluded.

When bringing guests to the lounge, please enter via the reception desk instead of the automatic gates.

Lounges around the world

You can enjoy lounge services in most of our destinations around the world when you are travelling on Finnair flights.

In our partner lounges you can bring along four guests travelling on the same flight with you, or in oneworld lounges you can bring along one guest travelling on a Finnair or another oneworld flight.

Advance seat reservation

You can pre-select a seat through Manage booking for Finnair flights free of charge. This also includes the option of reserving a Comfort seat and seats with extra legroom. You can also reserve Premium seats on flights within Europe that are operated by our renewed A330 or A350 fleet. Confirmed seat

You’ll get a confirmed seat in a full Business or Economy Class when you book your flights at least 48 hours before departure.

Finnair guarantees confirmed seats in scheduled short-haul Business Class booking class J and in scheduled short-haul and long-haul Economy Class booking class Y.

Please note that you can get a confirmed seat only in Economy Class on Doha and Dubai routes.

Benefit is not available on Kajaani, Kokkola/Kemi, Jyväskylä or Joensuu routes. Please note that in exceptional circumstances, this benefit may not be available on some other flights.

Internet access

You can use complimentary internet access with up to 6 devices on all our long-haul flights and Airbus flights in Europe. A complimentary internet connection is available when you are travelling on Finnair flights with an AY code on a ticket. You can use the connections yourself or share them with up to 5 travel companions.

Free drink and snack

You and your travel companion will receive a complementary drink and a snack when flying in Finnair Economy Class. Please note that a complementary drink and snack are only available on flights with an onboard menu. Other services apply according to the travel class.

Newspaper

Our wide selection of digital newspapers is available to you free of charge during your flights with an internet connection.

Upgrade benefits*

You’ll receive twenty-four (24) one-way upgrade benefits. You will get the travel class upgrade benefits when you reach the Platinum Lumo tier for the first time. These benefits are valid for one year and you will get them again when you renew your Platinum Lumo tier after a new 12-month tracking period.

You can choose if you wish to use your upgrade benefits for scheduled Finnair short-haul or long-haul flights. The required number of upgrade benefits will vary between long-haul and short-haul flights and the travel class. You will get the travel class upgrade benefits when you reach the Platinum Lumo tier for the first time. These benefits are valid for one year and you will get them again when you renew your Platinum Lumo tier after a new 12-month tracking period.

If you wish, you can exchange four upgrade benefits for a two-for-the-price-of-one Classic award flight in Economy Class. With this you can purchase award flights for two people from the Finnair Plus customer service but pay the point cost of an award flight for one person. Two-for-one Classic awards are only available for scheduled one-way flights and round trips operated by Finnair or Norra and must be purchased using Avios only.

Confirmed upgrades

Your travel class upgrade request for Finnair flights with upgrade benefits or Avios will be confirmed if there is availability in a travel class regardless of the booking class. You can use this benefit eight times for one-way upgrades for one person during your tracking period. You can also use the benefit for your friends and family members' upgrades when you pay for the upgrade with your Avios or upgrade benefits. If you wish to use the confirmed upgrade benefit, please contact our customer service after requesting the upgrade online.

Family members' upgrades*

You can upgrade up to three family members from Economy Class to Business Class with your Avios to join you, when you have bought a Business Class ticket. The point charge for a long-haul round trip is 40,000 Avios per person, and 11,000 Avios per person for a short-haul round trip.

*Travel class upgrades are available on scheduled Finnair flights (AY-code on the ticket and the flight is operated by Finnair or Norra). Please note that upgrade availability is limited.

You can check the upgrade availability already before booking your flights. Simply look for the Details and upgrades link when searching for the flights, select "Upgrade availability" next to "Flight details" and log in with your Finnair Plus credentials. If you already have a booking, you can check the upgrade availability online.

Avios expiration

Your Avios will not expire during your Platinum Lumo membership.

Exchange and transfer Avios

You can exchange Avios for tier points and transfer Avios to other people complimentary.

More Avios and tier points

Your multiplier for Finnair flights (marketed and operated by Finnair) is 10. This means the money you spend on Finnair flights and travel extras will be converted to Avios and tier points with the multiplier 10. Find out more about collecting Avios from flights.

In addition you’ll earn 25% more Avios and tier points for American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia flights (AA/BA/IB code on the ticket) and Finnair codeshare flights with the Platinum Lumo tier point multiplier.

Give-away Gold card

You can give a year-long Finnair Plus Gold membership as a gift to any two Finnair Plus members when you reach the Platinum Lumo tier for the first time. The benefit is valid for one year. You will get this benefit again when you renew your Platinum Lumo tier membership after a new 12-month tracking period. To use the benefit, just log in to your Finnair Plus account at finnairshop.com.

When you gift the Finnair Plus Gold membership to a Finnair Plus Junior, Basic or Silver member, the recipient's 12-month-long Gold membership will start from the date the membership has been gifted. If you gift the Gold membership to a person who is a Finnair Plus Gold member at the time the Gold membership is gifted, the gifted Gold membership will take effect only after the recipient's current tracking period has ended.

In case of disruption

We do our best to prioritise you in case of disruption. If you have missed your connecting flight or your flight is cancelled, we will re-route you first to your destination. We aim to prioritise you in the accommodation we offer if an alternative flight is not available on the same day. This can mean, for example, a higher-quality room type in the hotel we offer for our customers.

You will earn 8 extra upgrade benefits as a milestone reward once you reach 310,000 tier points, and 4 upgrade benefits when you reach 320,000 tier points.
