Multi-city journey

What is a multi-city journey?

A multi-city journey is a trip type that includes flights to several different cities, rather than just a round trip between two destinations.

Booking a multi-city trip is just as easy as booking a round trip, with the benefit of being able to travel to up to 6 destinations across Europe, Asia and North America and manage all your travel details under one booking.

For example, you can fly from Helsinki to London, from London to New York City, and finally from New York City to San Francisco, all included in one multi-city booking.

Multi-city bookings are often more cost-effective and convenient than booking several one-way flights, and they provide you with the flexibility to explore multiple destinations within one trip.

Key information about multi-city bookings

Plan your journey around the world

To start planning your journey with us, select multi-city under the trip type menu in our booking widget and add your journey's origin, destination, and departure dates in chronological order

Key facts to consider:

We take you to international and intercontinental destinations.

The availability of routes for your multi-city booking depends on the offer of Finnair flights and/or our partner airlines.

Your destinations must take you forward around the globe.

Make sure the destinations in your multi-city journey are located forward from each other, avoiding zigzags from destination to destination.

To conclude your journey, you can fly back to where you started.

The last flight in your multi-city journey can be back to the initial city of departure, or to wherever you prefer.

No results for your flight selection?

Multi-city bookings are subject to the availability of Finnair flights and our partner airlines in one booking. This means that if one (or several) of the flights included in your multi-city trip search is not available by Finnair or our partners, the booking cannot be made.

If you get no results for your flight selection, we invite you to try again:

• modifying the origin and/or destination cities,
• choosing alternative nearby airports,
• selecting different dates.

Manage your Multi-city booking

Things to keep in mind

Managing your multi-city booking is just as easy as managing a one-way or return trip; nevertheless, here are some tips to keep in mind for a more complex and longer journey:

About your ticket type:

After adding the flights to your multi-city route, you will select the ticket type for all the flights in your journey that apply. If the ticket type you have selected is not available for one of your flights, we will assign you to the closest available alternative.

About upgrading your travel class:

After completing your booking, you may be able to upgrade your travel class per flight. Visit our upgrade page to learn more details.

About your baggage:

We advise you to carefully review the layovers or short stays in your journey. If you know you will need your baggage in between destinations, please let the staff at the check-in desk know when checking in your baggage.

About your check-in:

You will check in separately for each flight on your multi-city journey. These are some things to consider:

  • Review all the flights in your journey to confirm if there are connecting flights
  • Review all the flights in your journey to confirm if there are flights operated by our partner airlines
  • Review the information about checking in for your flights operated by our partner airlines on their website.
