Carry-on bag

You can take one complimentary carry-on bag (55cm x 40cm x 23cm / 22in x 16in x 9in) when travelling with an Economy Superlight ticket on Finnair short-haul flights. Superlight tickets normally include only a small bag (40cm x 30cm x 15cm / 16in x 12in x 6in) that is placed under the front seat.

Checked bag

You’re entitled to one extra bag (max. 23kg (50lb)) when travelling on Finnair flights (AY code on the ticket and flight operated by Finnair or Norra) and all the flights in one direction of your itinerary are operated by Finnair, regardless of travel class.

You’re entitled to one extra bag (max. 20–23kg (44–50lb) depending on the airline) when travelling on any other oneworld airline except Finnair, regardless of travel class. Please check the possible airline-specific limitations.

Check-in

You can use priority check-in for all Finnair flights (AY code on the ticket and flight operated by Finnair of Norra) and other oneworld flights, regardless of travel class.

Priority security

You can use the faster priority security lane at security control.

Finnair Lounges at Helsinki Airport

When travelling on Finnair flights (AY code on the ticket), you can access the Finnair Business Lounges on the Schengen side and non-Schengen side of Helsinki Airport.  

You can bring along one guest travelling on a flight operated and marketed by Finnair or another oneworld airline.  

Please note that you can only access the Finnair Lounge on the Schengen side when your flight departs from the Schengen area, and the Finnair Lounge on the non-Schengen side when your flight departs from the non-Schengen area. You and your guest’s flights must depart from the same side of the Schengen border.

You can also purchase access to Finnair Platinum Corner on our brand-new Finnair Lounge on the Schengen side of Helsinki Airport. The price is €30 or 4,800 Avios. The benefit is personal. For the time being, purchases can be made in advance through customer service or at the airport lounge reception.

All customers travelling on the same booking with a Finnair Plus Gold member can purchase lounge access to Finnair Business Lounges at Helsinki Airport at a discounted price. The benefit is not available for group bookings. To get the discount, lounge access must be purchased from Finnair digital channels or customer service.

When bringing guests to the lounge, please enter via the reception desk instead of the automatic gates.

You can enjoy lounge services in most of our destinations around the world when you are travelling on Finnair flights.

In our partner lounges you can bring along one guest travelling on the same flight with you, and in oneworld lounges you can bring along one guest travelling on a Finnair or another oneworld flight.

Advance seat reservation

You can pre-select a seat through Manage booking for Finnair flights free of charge. This also includes the option of reserving a Comfort seat (Extra Legroom seats are excluded). See all the seat types on the Seat selection page.

Please note that you need to be on the Gold tier at the time of your flight to be able to use your benefit. If your tier at the time of your flight doesn’t include the advanced seat reservation benefit, your seat reservation will be cancelled.

Internet access

Complimentary internet connections are available when travelling on Finnair flights with AY code on a ticket.

• Long-haul flights: you can enjoy complimentary internet access for 60 minutes* on Finnair flights between Europe and Asia, North America and Dubai.
• Short-haul flights: you can enjoy complimentary a Stream package for 30 minutes* on Finnair flights within Europe that are operated with Airbus A319, A320 and A321 aircraft. Starting from 1 November 2023, we also offer you a complimentary Message package that supports sending text-based messages in WhatsApp, Viber, Kakao Talk, WeChat and iMessage throughout the flight (no pictures, videos or SMS).
• The Nordic Sky portal is available on all our long-haul flights and Airbus flights in Europe.

* Not available if your flight ticket already includes internet access.

Upgrade benefits

You’ll get four one-way upgrade benefits. You will get the travel class upgrade benefits when you reach the Gold tier for the first time. These benefits are valid for one year and you will get them again when you renew your Gold tier after a new 12-month tracking period.

You can choose if you wish to use your upgrade benefits for scheduled Finnair short-haul or long-haul flights. The required number of upgrade benefits will vary between long-haul and short-haul flights and the travel class.

If you wish, you can exchange all four upgrade benefits for a two-for-the-price-of-one Classic award flight in Economy Class. With this, you can purchase award flights for two people from the Finnair Plus customer service but pay the Avios cost of an award flight for one person. Two-for-one Classic awards are only available for scheduled one-way flights and round trips operated by Finnair or Norra and must be purchased using Avios only.

Travel class upgrades are available on scheduled Finnair flights (AY-code on the ticket and the flight is operated by Finnair or Norra). Please note that upgrade availability is limited.

You can check the upgrade availability already before booking your flights. Simply look for the Details and upgrades link when searching for the flights, select "Upgrade availability" next to "Flight details" and log in with your Finnair Plus credentials. If you already have a booking, you can check the upgrade availability online.

More Avios and tier points

Your multiplier for Finnair flights (marketed and operated by Finnair) is 8. This means the money you spend on Finnair flights and travel extras will be converted to Avios and tier points with the multiplier 8. Find out more about collecting Avios from flights.

In addition you’ll earn 15% more Avios and tier points for American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia flights (AA/BA/IB code on the ticket) and Finnair codeshare flights with the Gold tier point multiplier.
