Finnair flies directly from Helsinki to Faro twice a week from October 2024 onwards. The flight time is 5 hours. Faro International Airport is located 7km west of Faro. You can reach the city centre in about 10–15 minutes from the airport by taxi. The bus journey takes about 20–30 minutes, depending on the traffic — book flights to a city that combines history, culture and stunning landscapes.

If you want to visit other popular destinations on Portugal's southern coast, such as Albufeira, Lagos, and Portimão, the Algarve region has a well-functioning public transport system covering many cities and destinations. You can hop on a bus or train from Faro to Albufeira, Lagos, and Portimão. You can also take a taxi or Uber if you want a more comfortable and faster way to move from Faro to other cities in the Algarve. 

Faro is also the gateway to the Algarve's magnificent archipelago and provides a convenient base for unforgettable island excursions.
