If you have baggage to check in, depending on the airport you can either use Self-service Bag Drop or leave your baggage at the Bag Drop desk during your flight's check-in period.
The Bag Drop opens 2 hours before departure at the latest and closes 45 minutes to 1 hour before departure. At Helsinki Airport, self-service Bag Drop is open 24h.

Self-service Bag Drop
Self-service Bag Drops help you make your way through the airport even faster. Self-service Bag Drops are available at the following airports:
- Helsinki, Kittilä, Oulu, Rovaniemi, Tampere, Turku and Vaasa.
- Amsterdam, Bergen, Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Hamburg, Oslo, Stockholm-Arlanda, Stockholm-Bromma, Tromsø, Trondheim, Umea and Visby.
How does it work?
- Check in for your flight online or at one of our self-service kiosks at the airport.
- Print the bag tag at a self-service kiosk and attach the tag to the side handle of your bag.
- Please remember to remove all old bag tags and barcode stickers.
- Go to the Self-service Bag Drop.
- Place the tagged bag in the middle of the belt on its side, not on its wheels.
- Scan the bag tag with the hand-held scanner. At Helsinki Airport, the scanner is automatic. Please ensure the bag tag is available for scanning in the side handle pointing upwards.
- Send the bag into the baggage system.

Bag Drop at Helsinki Airport
At Helsinki Airport, you can use the Self-service Bag Drop to check in your baggage. Our ground crew are happy to assist you with the self-service option.
The Finnair area is at desks 200–230. You can check in your baggage yourself at one of the desks with 'Bag drop' displayed on the screen above. If you need special assistance, please go to a 'Special assistance' desk and check in your baggage with our agents.
At Helsinki Airport, you can also bring your baggage to the bag drop the evening prior to departure, between 6 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. If you're travelling with your family and have everyone's tickets and travel documents at hand, one of you can check in all your baggage.
Bag Drop desks
Our Bag Drop desks are at your service at airports with no self-service Bag Drops. Please note that if you have a direct flight to the United States, you must check your baggage in at check-in or Bag Drop desks.
