How much baggage can I take? What are Finnair’s charges for extra bags and how do I pay?
On our flights from China, you can bring 1–3 pieces of baggage, depending on your ticket type and travel class.
If you have already purchased a ticket, your checked baggage allowance is printed on your flight ticket and confirmation. 1 PC = one piece of baggage with a maximum weight of 23kg and external dimensions (length + width + height) of up to 158cm.
Apart from checked baggage you are always entitled to take one piece of carry-on baggage, maximum dimensions 56cm x 45cm x 25cm and one personal item such as a small handbag, a small laptop bag or a small backpack that fits under the seat in front of you. The maximum combined weight of these is 8 kg. For Business Class passengers the carry-on baggage allowance is 2 pieces. Please note that any items you purchase at the airport, including duty-free products, are part of your carry-on baggage allowance. If you exceed your allowance, you may have to check in your extra bags and pay any applicable charges.
On our flights to/from China, the extra bag charge for standard-sized baggage (23kg, max. external dimensions 158cm) is 60 euros/bag if you pay in advance through Manage booking. If you pay through our customer service the extra bag charge is 75 euros/bag.
You can also pay the extra bag charge at the airport. In that case, the charge is from 75 to 150 euros, depending on the total amount of bags you are carrying. Check the extra bag charges here. Please note that cash payments are not accepted for Finnair services at Helsinki Airport.
If you are travelling with a bag that weighs 23–32 kg or exceeds the standard size of 158 cm, a heavy bag charge of 75 euros is collected at the airport.
