Customers’ favourite features in the Finnair app – from booking to landing

Finnair’s mobile app is there to give you peace of mind in all the stages of your journey. We asked our customers to share their favourite features in our award-winning app and received a wide range of answers — from preparing your flight all the way to landing at your destination.

Countdown to departure 

One of the Finnair app’s characteristic features is the visually pleasing countdown to departure, displayed on each approaching journey you have added to the application. This feature was also mentioned as a favourite by many of our customers.  

“The app made our first-ever flight even more of a special experience, as we could check every day how many days there were left before our flight,” one of our customers describes his and his son’s first flight with Finnair from Manchester to Helsinki.  

“The takeoff and landing graphics with times and terminals are my favourite feature,” one customer says. “Not to forget the different destination icons that add to the excitement!” another customer adds. The countdown surely makes waiting a bit more special, all while providing useful information about the approaching journey.

Mobile check-in and flight updates

One of the app’s central features is the possibility to check in for your flight quickly and easily, up to 36 hours before the journey begins.  

“The mobile check-in is the best feature, as it saves me so much time and stress, and gives me the boarding pass on my phone,” one of our customers describes. Checking in in advance lets you head to the airport with a piece of mind, as you can go straight to the bag drop area, or if you don’t have luggage to check in, you can head directly to your departure gate.  

At Helsinki Airport, it is even possible to check your bags the evening before your departure. You can also always check your ticket’s bag allowance in the app.

In addition to boarding passes, the application always keeps you up to date on current information about your flight, as well as its possible changes. You can, for example, check your departure gate, and always receive a notification when boarding starts.

“We saw directly on the app that there was a delay in our flight, giving us more time to grab some food without worrying,” one of our customers describes. “It’s nice to see relevant updates about the flight, you can really rely on the app to help you stay on track,” another customer adds.

Booking flights and purchasing travel extras

As the Finnair app is there for you in all the stages of your travel, you can also book your next flight in the application, as well as browse through all your upcoming journeys. You’ll always find the best fares for Finnair flights through our digital channels.

In addition to booking flights, many of our customers highlighted the ease of purchasing travel extras as their favourite feature. “I especially appreciate the seamless experience of purchasing anything from a travel class upgrade to lounge access or seat selection with just a few taps,” one customer concludes.

With just one tap, I can access all the necessary information about my upcoming journey and plan ahead!” one of our customers concludes.
