Impacts of the global information system issues on Finnair flights

The global information system problems have affected air traffic and other operations in the United States and Europe, among others, on 19 July 2024. The situation may also affect Finnair's traffic, as even though the system in question is not used by Finnair's flight operations, global system issues may temporarily disrupt operations at some airports and prevent flying to them. So far, the impact on Finnair flights has been minor.

We will contact you personally via SMS and/or e-mail, if there are changes to your flight. Please go to Manage booking and check that we have your current contact information, so that we can reach you if needed.

You can check the info on departing and arriving flights on the local airport's website, for example Finavia's site for Helsinki Airport.

We apologise for the inconvenience and uncertainty this situation may cause you.

You can choose from the following options, if your flight would be cancelled

  • We do our best to re-route you to your destination as soon as possible. As availability of alternative flights is limited, re-routing may take time. Please check and accept the change or see other possible flight options in Manage booking.

  • If we were unable to offer you an alternative flight but you wish to travel, you can contact our customer service for re-arrangements.

  • In case you don’t want to use any of the flights in your booking and want to cancel your whole booking and apply for a refund, or we have cancelled all flights in your booking, you can apply for a refund online in Manage booking.

  • If you want to use some of the flights in your booking and apply for a refund of a cancelled flight, please contact ourcustomer service.

  • For flight tickets purchased through other service providers, such as a travel agent, please contact them directly to make changes to your booking or apply for a refund.

Due to the flight change, we unfortunately might not be able to confirm some of the pre-purchased or pre-booked travel extras such as meals or pet transportation to your new flights. You can see confirmed services in Manage booking. If you do not receive travel extras purchased from Finnair, you can apply for a refund online.
