Finnair’s new in-flight entertainment system won the Red Dot Award 2022

Finnair’s new in-flight entertainment system (IFE) won the international Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design in the category of Interface & User Experience Design.

The Red Dot Design Award is one of the world’s largest design competitions. The Red Dot has become one of the most sought-after labels for high design quality. The competition is held every year to award design and innovation.

Finnair’s new in-flight entertainment system has been developed and designed by Finnair’s in-house team. It has been thoroughly tested with customers across the globe and developed further based on the feedback.

Finnair’s new IFE is smooth, fast, personalized, and responsive and it supports the customer’s journey as a whole. The new IFE offers a dynamic overview of the flight progress and provides relevant and up-to-date information about the journey during each phase of the flight. Through the new connecting flights functionality, customers get personalized messages about their connecting flights.

The new IFE makes time fly onboard

Customers can enjoy a wide selection of top movies, TV series, music, and games now with an even better user experience.

This is already the second Red Dot award for Finnair’s IFE. The first was won in 2019 for Finnair’s onboard service platform. The Ordering to Seat feature will be available also on the new IFE on long-haul flights at the beginning of 2023. Through this functionality customers can order tasty snacks and refreshing beverages from the IFE screen in their own language to be delivered directly to their seat. This feature is enabled by an onboard digital ecosystem, where customer’s personal IFE screen, onboard Wi-Fi portal (Nordic Sky) and cabin crew’s mobile app (Sky Control) are integrated together.

The new in-flight entertainment system will gradually become available along with the fully renewed cabin on all of our long-haul flights during 2022–2024.
