Welcome to your New Comfort Zone: The new Finnair Lounge invites you to enjoy a moment of peace before takeoff

Step in, take a deep breath and enjoy a moment of peace in Finnair’s renewed Lounge on the Schengen side at Helsinki Airport, which opened its doors on 9 July 2024. Designed with busy commuters in mind, our spacious lounge offers dedicated areas for both work and relaxation, making it the perfect pre-flight destination.

Commuters’ Haven

The new Finnair Lounge on the Schengen side was created in response to our comprehensive customer surveys. Emphasising spaciousness, comfort and refined areas for different functions, every detail is designed to meet our customers’ hopes and needs for an overall better lounge experience.

The new lounge offers distinct spaces for resting, working, dining and socialising, offering you an escape from the hectic airport atmosphere and letting you place comfort over everything – all while enjoying a spectacular view of the runway.

“In a world that grows busier by the day, we understand the universal need for comfort. The new Finnair Lounge offers a safe haven from all the airport noise and hassle, letting you both engage in work and unwind,” says Meri Järvinen, Head of Airport Customer Experience at Finnair.

In addition to providing ideal surroundings for relaxation, the new Finnair Lounge offers supreme conditions for the on-the-go worker. With plenty of private, soundproof workspaces designed to meet the needs of a busy commuter, the lounge offers tailored tranquillity to efficiently start or finish your working day before boarding your flight.

Introducing Platinum Corner

The new Finnair Lounge on the Schengen side is divided into two separate areas – Business Lounge and Platinum Corner.

We've heard our top-tier members’ wishes and are excited to introduce Platinum Corner as a brand-new concept in the Finnair Lounge on the Schengen side. This exclusive area, crafted specifically for Finnair Plus Platinum Lumo, Platinum and oneworld Emerald members, was also named with the help of our top-tier members.

For Finnair Plus Gold members and Business Class customers with Classic and Flex tickets, we’ve enhanced the Finnair Business Lounge to offer an even better experience. Both Platinum Corner and the improved Business Lounge offer premium comfort, dining options, and dedicated spaces for work and relaxation.

To ensure that everyone can enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of our renewed lounge, access to the Finnair Business Lounge is also available for purchase as a travel extra when booking flights, through Manage Booking, the Finnair app, or directly at the lounge reception.

Celebrating Modern Nordic Design

All choices regarding materials, colours and textures have been carefully made with Finnair’s Modern Nordic brand in mind, emphasising functionality, timelessness and comfort. In the lounge’s design concept by Studio Joanna Laajisto, the focus has been on featuring elements inspired by nature to celebrate Nordic values and design.

The fundamental elements of the space consist of wooden surfaces, earthy colours and round shapes. Additionally, the carefully chosen textures and expertly executed lighting choices bring warmth to the space, inviting you to take a breather.

Our renewed lounge showcases a curated selection of Finnish design classics alongside contemporary Finnish and Nordic design pieces, all seamlessly integrated with Finnair’s brand. In the lounge, you can enjoy pieces from classic and contemporary Finnish brands such as Artek, Made by Choice, Fasetti and Nikari, alongside Nordic treasures from brands like Gubi, Lammhults, Audo and &Tradition.

“Through smooth collaboration with our exceptional partners, we have successfully created a space that lets customers experience the seamless continuity of Finnair’s Modern Nordic brand from the moment they enter the lounge until they land at their final destination,” says Lotta Prinssi, Development Manager of Airport Customer Experience at Finnair.

The choices made in interior design and the lounge’s construction also go hand-in-hand with sustainability. We have strived to make choices that last and are easy to maintain by featuring and partnering with brands close to home. The lounge also features renewed Finnish design from the previous Schengen Lounge – Karuselli lounge chair designed by Yrjö Kukkapuro.

By renewing used pieces and selecting high-quality Nordic furniture, we ensure the longevity and timeless appeal of the space. This approach guarantees that from day one, the lounge will serve its purpose beautifully and efficiently for many years to come.
